Old Piano 02:37
Last night I heard your momma crying, darling Last time I saw you on the other side of the road By now you’re hunkered down In some little Midwest town Oh come back darling I miss you so What am I to do with that old piano? I still hear your voice, woman The way it floods the street like rain But there ain’t no melody tonight You better place your bets on white Oh come back darling I miss you so What am I to do with that old piano? Your clothes still hanging there beside your bed That midnight gown right beside your head And no one, no one,can make me feel the way Your fingers hit those keys and you make that sucker play Oh come back darling I miss you so What am I to do with that old piano?

Virginia 05:11
In Virginia the cigarettes are cheaper The talks and the kisses are deeper The roads fall and rise a lot quicker Smiling even before the liquor Let’s count all these 7-11s While we complicate our way to heaven I’ll point out the towns that I lived in And tell you stories about their women Our tank is running on empty I’ll fill it if you let me Virginia you lovely lady, always changing your perfume Always another reason to come on back to you If I stay in this state any longer I’m bound to become more somber Singing love songs Chesapeake to Fairfax Wink twice now and guide me back I always held that love Like it was something I was supposed to be in control of I came and left and I’m back again Damn if I’ll ever leave Our tank is running on empty I’ll rob that liquor store if you’ll help me Virginia you lovely lady, always changing your perfume Always another reason to come on back to you Our tank is running on empty I filled it with broken hearts since she left me Virginia you lovely lady, always changing your perfume Always another reason to come on back Always another reason to come on back Always another reason to come on back to you

Pure 02:22
Train heads down To pure old London town Hired help wait to close their mother’s gates Pure, pure The conductor waves At a saxophone being played By the only man with two feet for his hands Pure, pure Standing there in the dirty greasy air Charcoal fumes send me to my tomb Pure, pure Pure, pure Train skips west Leaves me feeling less But wanting more All-a all-a-aboard Pure All-a all aboard Pure All aboard

Dolce Vita 05:46
Not too long ago we were college bound Making love in parking lots in halfway towns Trading sentimental letters Showing the world that we knew better Then we kept it going. We made our truth last Three years of postcard romance through Virginia Beach sands I saw your glow in Chicago Start to fade on the Gulf Coast And I wanna know Do you love me still? Is what we have what you would call real? Or are we just living off those words we said so long ago? I wanna know I wanna know Do you think of me while on Sorority Row? Feeding fish bowls to the freshman And seeing how long they float While he was in San Antonio You got lonely after drinks and you called my phone You said And I wanna know Do you love me still? Is what we had more than copping a feel? Or were we just living off those words we said so long ago? I wanna know I wanna know I still hear your voice every once in a while Every big choice I make I hear your words and smile I know you’ll find where you’re going I know you’ll do some growing But I wanna know Do I love you still? Is what we had the only thing I’ll ever feel? Or am I just living off those words I said so long ago? Said long long ago I wanna know

about

This all started when I heard Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner".
It was the backseat of my mom's 1992 Jeep Cherokee heading to Grandma's house in Ohio.
I heard a song that didn't sound like everything else in the world and I followed Suzanne to the world of ethereal songwriters.

I joined the Navy to write music. It seems pretty backwards, but works.
I had time to explore the world, leave my loved ones, and grow.
'Pure' was written over the course of my 6 year enlistment - from Virginia, to Chicago, to Pensacola, to Maryland - and then back home. (to you)

Thank you to everyone who helped bring this music to life.
